Summary
Another DNA glycosylase work where the investigator characterized the substrate specificity (i.e. what type of damage they repair) of plants and yeast Fpg and found that it was more similar to the bacterial FPG, even though they are eukaryotes. The evolutionary analysis showed that such group of plants and bacteria is more similar to the bacteria! Here I continued and got deeper into DNA glycosylases (DNA repair enzymes) and the large group that worked on this at that time, as well as on the bioinformatics.
